monsoon winds
charge in from the sea
enormous gusts of air
evoking fierce,
crashing waves
of the oceana chameleon
thinking itself alone, safe
stands erect
almost indignant
in the middle of the garden

then suddenly darts for foodbougainvillea branches
drape whitewashed compound walls
in blazing fuscia, pink and red
set against chlorophyll green
of the multitude of leaves
swaying madly
drunk on the madness
of the windbirds twitter
sing praise
in notes
heartbreakingly sweet***
