raindrops fall
raindrops speak
plop-plop
against large, firm
champa leaves
sharp tinkles
strike polished porch tiles
soft murmurs
disappear in weeds
thunder rolls
far away
somewhere
imagine:
an enormous lion
made of clouds
woken from slumber
in a corner of night sky
more sleepy
than fierce
growling softly
to please
its audience of stars
raindrops embrace
and melt into ground,
grass and leaves
each union a new word
in the story
the rain tells the earth
